Many Roads
A new form of exploration powered by explorers
Many Roads is an app that allows users to create, discover, and embark on adventures around the world. Driven by user-created content, explorers can follow and plan routes created by other explorers, discovering unique, unseen sights within cities or in nature.
To realise a new approach to exploration, we developed a prototype to test drive the app and gather user insights for future enhancements. We partnered with David Simon and Josip Gajšak on the app's development to further refine our concept.

Be it in a city or in nature, a person's preferences and capabilities can shape their exploration style. So it was essential for us to prioritise real-life user experiences and position the app as a tool to meet users' needs and expectations.

The app's dashboard is a holistic interface focused on exploration. Users can explore nearby routes or use the search and filter functions to narrow their results.
Additionally, users can also use the app's map view to discover nearby routes. Alternative exploration mechanisms that cater to a variety of preferences are essential to promote positive behaviour feedback.

A route's details can offer users vital information, from travel distance to accessibility notes. We aim to create a comprehensive template that provides the details users need to make informed decisions.
By default, the "Overview" tab displays basic information such as travel distance, estimated duration, route type and difficulty.
"Maps & Checkpoint" renders a route's checkpoints in map and list views, and the "Accessibility" tab offers additional notes on routes that may require attention for users with physical limitations.

We aim to help users plan and schedule their trips by offering a variety of routes in Many Road's database. One of the app's "Planner" features lets users create a collection of routes for future reference.

Another key feature of the "Planner" is a schedule that lets users create travel itineraries by importing routes from the database or their own collection, including breaks and reminders.
By combining familiar UI elements with a carefully crafted user journey, we sought to create a holistic and functional travel assistant that lets users explore with ease.
